BREAKDOWN
PARANORMAL INSIDE
SYNOPSIS:
Just in time for Halloween 2025, East West Players brings you the world premiere of Prince Gomolvilas' thrilling new work PARANORMAL INSIDE. This haunting sequel to THE BROTHERS PARANORMAL, which made its acclaimed Los Angeles premiere at EWP in 2022, dives back into the mysterious world of Max and Delia—two souls brought together by tragic loss and mutual compassion. As they grapple with the depths of intergenerational trauma and ancestral influence on their lives, a malevolent spirit threatens to consume them. Will they survive the night, or will they succumb to the spiritual possession that lurks within?
PARANORMAL INSIDE was co-commissioned in 2022 by East West Players, Perseverance Theatre, and Theater Mu.
SEEKING:
MAX (30s, Male, Asian/Thai American, U.S.-born) A suburban everyman with a haunted past—literally. Max used to be a paranormal investigator, but now he’s trying to live the American dream: house, wife, kid on the way… until sleepwalking turns into throat-grabbing and full-on bodysnatching. Charming and funny when conscious, terrifying and unhinged when he’s not.
BINCY (30s, Female, Asian/Thai American, born in Thailand, immigrated at 10; speaks with a slight Thai accent) Pregnant, paranoid, and probably right. Bincy is high-strung in the best way—hyper-vigilant, sharp-witted, and fueled by true-crime podcasts and prenatal anxiety. She's the heart of the story with a spine of steel, and she's not afraid to call BS even while packing a hospital bag.
DELIA (ROLE IS CAST, SEEKING UNDERSTUDY) (50s, Female, Black, American-born) Runs a low-key café like she runs her life: with glam hair, biting sass, and zero tolerance for nonsense. A former ghost-buster with trauma tucked under her apron, she’s quick with a threat, quicker with a bat, and still nursing old wounds. A powerhouse.
ETHAN (20s, Male, White, American-born) Catholic guilt, grad-school earnestness, and a deep love for a woman who's way out of his league. Ethan is awkward, oblivious, and unexpectedly bold—especially when zip-tied to a chair. Think boy-next-door meets “why are you like this?”
SOMBOON (60s, Male, Asian/Thai American, born in Thailand, immigrated at 29; speaks with a Thai accent) A no-nonsense Thai dad with old-world beliefs and a very short fuse. He’s blunt, spiritual, and deeply suspicious of his son-in-law. Speaks Thai, believes in spirits, and is ready to throw down with anyone who threatens his daughter—or who can't speak the language properly.
TASHA (20s, Female, Black, American-born) Smart, spiritual, and way more rebellious than her “med school” cover story suggests. Tasha’s juggling a white fiancé, and some deep family fractures. She’s fierce, funny, and trying to hold it all together while her past, present, and future crash into each other.

BREAKDOWN
ABOUT THE SHOW:
All roles require EXCELLENT COMIC ACTORS with BOLD CHOICES and GREAT COMIC INSTINCTS, great physical comedic ability, expert facility with various dialects - and a great capacity for fearless razor-sharp melodramatic comedy in the style of ’39 Steps.’ The show also lovingly plays with gender presentation in the queer-camp style made popular by the work of Charles Ludlam, Everett Quinton, and the Ridiculous Theater Company (The Mystery of Irma Vep).
SEEKING:
[TRACK 1]: man, late 20’s - 30s, any ethnicity. Plays the following roles:
JONATHAN HARKER (RP British dialect): man, small in stature, unassuming. Prim and proper and obsessive-compulsive real estate agent, frightened of his own shadow. Engaged to his childhood crush Lucy Westfeldt and enamored of her fearlessness. Once bitten, he loosens up…a lot...and becomes a Tom Jones style rock star in leather pants.
THREE SUITORS (various dialects): man, Lord Cavendish, Lord Windsor, and Lord Havemercy, played simultaneously with the help of a puppet on either side of his head.
BOSUN (Irish dialect): man, A scurvy seaman who goes down with the ship in a storm.
GRAVEDIGGER (cockney dialect): man, A drunk gravedigger with a secret.
[TRACK 2]: woman, 40s-50s, any ethnicity. Plays the following roles:
DR. WESTFELDT (RP British dialect): man, Lucy and Mina’s Father, a misogynist blowhard; self-important and given to proclamations.
RENFIELD (cockney dialect): man, Insane patient of Dr. Westfeldt who lives to serve and loves to eat bugs. In a word, he’s nuts.
CAPTAIN (sea captain dialect): man, The scurvy salty captain of a doomed ship caught in a raging storm.
[TRACK 3]: woman, 20s-30, any ethnicity. Plays the following roles:
- LUCY WESTFELDT (RP dialect): woman, Brilliant plucky earth scientist daughter of Dr. Westfeldt, she is full of energy and the spirit of adventure. She’s often underestimated because of her beauty. Engaged to Jonathan, but when Dracula moves to Whitby, she is captivated by his exotic European ways - their shared interests – and his shirtless torso. When her sister is bitten by Dracula, she courageously joins the cause.
- KITTY (cockney dialect): woman, An elderly, dotty kleptomaniac patient of Dr. Westfeldt’s, she serves as a maid in his house. Think a less intelligent Mrs. Lovett.
- DRIVER (thick Eastern European or Russian dialect): man, A Transylvanian male Uber-driver, part Mel Brooks, part Borat.
[TRACK 4]: man, 40s-50s, any ethnicity. Plays the following roles:
- MINA WESTFELDT (RP dialect): woman, The oft overlooked Westfeldt daughter. She has always lived in her sister Lucy’s shadow and is quite desperate for attention. Immediately receptive to Dracula’s charms, she falls under his spell, succumbing to his curse.
- JEAN VAN HELSING (German dialect): man, German Doctor of Rare Infectious Diseases from the University of Schmutz, she is disciplined, scientific, humorless, stern, and no-nonsense.
[TRACK 5]: man, late 20s - 30s, any ethnicity. Plays:
COUNT DRACULA (Transylvanian dialect): man, Hugely sexy, magnetically handsome, rock star presence with a killer body. The (non) living embodiment of narcissism. But he is lonely. When he meets Harker, he becomes instantly obsessed with Lucy whose independent spirit and fearlessness fascinate him. He travels to Whitby to find her, steal her from Jonathan and make her his bride for eternity.
